Afternoon Shower
Medium Used: Scratchboard
Description: This form of art is very difficult and it is done by drawing in the negativ. You start out with a back canvas and scratch away to reveal the silver. Rather than drawing in the black you leave it. This is one of my favorite mediums as well as the most challenging. You can not make any mistakes! Once you've scratched away its there to stay.
Notice the dust in the sky; each black spot needed to be scratched around and left, very tetious! As well as each blade of grass needed to be individual scratched away.

This was my first attempt at scratchboard and I think it turned out very nicely. Notice all the different texture applied to the elephants skin, as well as the use of shadows by the black that I left. Can you see the alligator?

Zebra Tile
Medium Used: Pottery
Description: This was done by panting two zebra heads onto a 15"x15" tile and then having it glazed. Unfortunately when I took it to one of the art fairs they broke it in 3 pieces so I had to glue it back together and had to add lines to the background to hide the cracks. I like how it turned out after adding the veined lines to hide the cracks. Even though they did break it I still managed to come away with a first place ribbon at the county fair as well as a first place ribbon at the tri-state fair (ACSI)
